Larry Knox gave the Chair's Report:
- With the resignation of Reverend Nickoloff and Danielle Tucker, the Board now has three vacant seats. Although it has been 6 months since the first seat was vacated, City Council has not appointed a replacement. Several requests to fill the seat have been made and the PAB Alliance has provided their recommendations. With a total of three vacancies, the need to fill these seats is of even greater importance. Board members discussed possible alternatives since City Council does not appear to be acting in good faith. Among them was bringing a lawsuit against their failure to follow the charter requirement for filling vacancies within 90 days. Rabbi Setel noted that the Board does not have representation from the Hispanic or disabled communities and lacks gender equity. An additional concern is that PAB was supposed to have their budget and hiring ability reinstated after the completion of the investigation into the former Executive Director but that hasn’t happened. In short, it appears that City Council is failing to support the needs of the Board while also raising concerns about the Board's progress.
- An upcoming public session will be held to work with the policy team on research and oversight.
- A group of complaint reports that could not be investigated due to jurisdiction or information limitations has been reviewed. With the exception of one report, a motion to approve the disposition recommended by the investigations team was unanimously approved.
